December 28, 2011 - GRADING UPDATE

Ok.  I have been sick since Christmas night (feeling MUCH better today), but here's what I have been able to get done so far... I am at the half-way point! :)  YAY!

B3, B4, G4 English 9 Classes - Your persuasive essays have all been graded, and grades are now finalized in these three classes.  Everything I had to do for you is done.

G3 W131 -  Final Presentations are done and recorded on Powerschool

Here's what I still have to do:

B1/G2 Honors 9 - Persuasive Essays and a little bit of absence work.   My goal is to get all of this done and finalize your grades by Monday, January 2, if not before.  I will start in on the B1 essays tomorrow if I can stick to the time schedule I've given myself.  Cross your fingers.  

G3 W131 - Trend Analysis papers - This is all I hope to have left after Monday, January 2.  I would like to take my time wrapping these up that last week of Break.  I might be taking a flight out of here the last weekend before school starts up again, and the last thing I want to do is pack these heavy things in my suitcase.  The goal is to have them finished before I ever set foot on the plane.

Hope you are all having a happy, healthy Christmas break.  Once I wrap up today's blog, I am hoping to start spending some quality time with my family for a while.  Will update you again when I hit another major milestone.  :)

December 22, 2011 (Blue) FINALS DAY - BLUE CLASSES

B1/B3/B4 -  Students took the Final Exam today.  After they finished the exam, I collected their textbooks.  No Assignment.  Have a wonderful holiday season!! Enjoy your break!! :)

December 21, 2011 (Gold) FINALS DAY - GOLD CLASSES

G2 - Final Drafts of the Persuasive Letters DUE.  Students took the Final Exam today.  After they finished the exam, I collected their textbooks.  No Assignment.  Have a wonderful holiday season!! Enjoy your break!! :)

G3 - Final two presentations were given today.  Students were asked to complete a survey for IU.  Final Drafts of the Comparative Analysis paper were returned today.  I will be finishing up participation and presentation grades in the next few days.  It will take me a little longer to get the Trend papers done.  Please be patient... I may not touch them until after the holidays.  Grades are not due until January 10, but I will try to get them finished and posted before then.  Good luck to all of you next semester and beyond!! December 20, 2011 (Blue)

B1 /B3/B4 - Test Review Sheets DUE.  Students took the test over Acts III, IV, and V of Romeo and Juliet today.  After the test, they were given time to study for the Final Exam or work on other homework.  All grades are up to date and current in this class right now with the only exception being the Persuasive Letters.  These probably won't be graded for a while... grades aren't due until January 10, so I have some time to spread these out and get them done over Christmas Break.  Assignment:  Final Exam next time.  Bring a pencil and your textbook with you.  I will be collecting textbooks from you after the Final.

December 19, 2011 (Gold)

G2 - Test Review Sheets DUE.  Test: Acts III, IV, and V of Romeo and Juliet. Immediately after the test, students took the second Binder Quiz for the semester.  After the binder quiz, students were given some time to study quietly until the end of the block.  Assignment:  Persuasive Letters DUE next time.  Study for the Final Exam.  Bring your textbook to class with you on Wednesday.  I will be collecting them from you.

G3 - Final Drafts of the Trend Analysis paper DUE.  Two groups gave their final presentations.  Assignment:  Two more presentations next time! :)

B1 - Binder Quiz.  When everyone was finished, we played some review games for the rest of the block.  Students received their final exam review sheet today.  It will not be collected for a grade.  Assignment: Test over Acts III, IV, and V of Romeo and Juliet on Tuesday.  Test Review Sheets will be collected at that time.  Textbooks will be collected on Thursday.

B3/B4 - B4 ONLY:  Final Drafts of the Persuasive Letter are DUE today.  Both classes:  Binder Quiz.  When everyone was finished, we played some review games for the rest of the block.  Students received their final exam review sheet today.  It will not be collected for a grade.  Assignment: Test over Acts III, IV, and V of Romeo and Juliet on Tuesday.  Test Review Sheets will be collected at that time.  Textbooks will be collected on Thursday.

December 15, 2011 (Gold) - Happy Birthday, Grandma!

G2 - Passed back and discussed the rough drafts of the persuasive letter assignment.  The final drafts will be due on Wednesday of next week - Finals Day.  Watched Acts III, IV, and V of the 1960's version of Romeo and Juliet.  Students had time to start their review sheets in class today.  Gave students their Final Exam Review Sheet today as well.  The final review sheet will not be collected for a grade. Assignment: The Test Review Sheet for the Acts III, IV, and V test will be due next time.  In order to make sure you have enough time for your Final Exam, the test over Acts III, IV, and V AND the Binder Quiz will take place in class on Monday... please be sure your binder is organized and ready to go.  Final Drafts of the Persuasive Letter are due on Wednesday.

G3 - Students went to the computer lab for the first half of the block today.  Presentations began after lunch.  The first group gave a presentation on various forms of Technology.  Assignment: Final Drafts of the Trend paper due in class on Monday.  The next two presentations will be given on Monday as well. 

G4 - Watched Acts III, IV, and V of the 1960's version of Romeo and Juliet.  Students had time to start their review sheets in class today.  Gave students their Final Exam Review Sheet today as well.  The final review sheet will not be collected for a grade. December 13, 2011 (Gold)

G2 - Act V Review Sheets DUE. Passed back graded work. Students had about 10 minutes to look over vocab., then they took SAT Vocab. Test #6. After the vocab. test, students worked in groups to create timelines for Acts I-IV. They then copied the notes from these timelines. No Assignment!

G3 - Binders DUE. (These were collected and graded in class today.) Students went to the computer lab to work on their final papers and their presentations. Assignments: Final Drafts of the Trend Analysis paper are due on MONDAY. Presentations will begin on Thursday. If you are presenting on Thursday, please make sure your group has the Handout ready to go and individual copies of Works Cited pages ready for me, too.

G4 - Act V Review Sheet DUE.  Passed back graded work including the rough drafts of the persuasive letters.  I walked through this assignment IN DETAIL in class today.  Final Drafts are going to be due on Monday.  For the rest of the block, students worked on a timeline activity and took notes when they were finished.  Assignment: Final Draft of the persuasive letter due on Monday.

December 12, 2011 (Blue)

B1 - Act V Review Sheets DUE.  Passed back graded work.  Students had about 10 minutes to look over vocab., then they took SAT Vocab. Test #6.  After the vocab. test, students worked in groups to create timelines for Acts I-IV.  They then copied the notes from these timelines.  No Assignment!

B3 - Passed back graded work.  Went through the timeline notes from last time, then we finished reading Act V in class today (Act V: Scene 3).  Assignment:  Act V Review Sheet.

B4 -  Passed back graded work including rough drafts of the persuasive letters.  Today, we read and discussed Act V: Scenes 1-3 and finished the play.  Students had a little bit of time to work on their assignments.  Assignments:  Final drafts of the persuasive letter are due on Friday.  Act V Review Sheets due next time.  You will have a Binder Quiz on Friday of this week.
