B2/B3/B4 - Today I collected Letters of Re-Introduction in B2. B2 also received SAT Vocab. List #7. In all three classes, I went over the Benchmark Writing Assessment from last fall and touched base with students about the Benchmark Test they'll be taking next week. The test has been moved to next Monday. Next, we wrapped up the conversations we were having about the last song I played in each class. For the rest of the class, I played four songs, and I had students write about the Subject (one sentence), the Plot (4-5 sentences and choose descriptors from the 4 categories we have been speaking about), and Tone (five descriptors with reasons for choosing each one). The three or four songs I played were as follows: In B2 "Return to Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins, "Goodbye Earl" by Dixie Chicks, "Cheeseburger in Paradise" by Jimmy Buffett, , and "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" by Sting. In B3/B4, we listened to "Hakuna Matata" from the Lion King soundtrack, "Goodbye Earl" by Dixie Chicks, "Cheeseburger in Paradise" by Jimmy Buffett, , and, in B3, "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" by Sting. I collected the in-class work we did today in B3 and B4 for a grade. Assignment: In B3/B4 - none. In B2, SAT Vocab. List #7 flashcards due on Thursday regardless of whether the class meets that day or not. In other words, if you are all out for the Career Fair, I want your flashcards on Thursday anyway. Also, in B2, read "Oranges" by Gary Soto, and write two well-developed paragraphs to describe the Subject and Plot (first paragraph) and the Tone (second paragraph). If I see all of you on Thursday, it is due then. If the whole class is gone for the Career Fair, it is due on Monday before the Benchmark Test.
