B1 - In class today, we finished reading and discussing the biography for Emily Dickinson. Students then took some notes over her life and poetic style. For the remainder of the block, students were asked to work in small groups to discuss 1-2 of Dickinson's poems and mark the techniques which applied. We started to discuss "This is My Letter to the World" at the end of the block. Assignment: Please choose one of the poems from the Dickinson packet and type up a one-page reflection. Students were given a rubric in class which outlines the three paragraphs.
B2 - Students were taken to the computer lab for Acuity Test #2 today. Assignment: You will need 4 bibliography entries (pink sheet) and 12 notecards by the end of the block on Tuesday!
B4 - I checked Double-Entries for "A Shared Sadness." We discussed the article and the various communities in which we are a part. Next, we charted out the strengths and weaknesses of this article and Sherry Turkle's article from last time. We briefly discussed the sample paragraphs from last time, and groups were asked to work on a revision before the end of the block. Assignment: Read "Boy, You Fight Like a Girl" and do a double-entry. Work on supplementary readings.
