December 20-21, 2016 (Gold/Blue)

G1 - Today was the Final Exam. I passed back the remainder of the graded work. Groups wrapped up their Character posters for a few last minute points. Assignment: Posted on Google Classroom 0n 12/20.

G2 - Binders were DUE. Final Drafts were DUE by 3:30pm. Students took the final exam in class today.

G3 - Final Exam.

December 19, 2016 (Blue)

B1 - Test Review Sheets for Acts III-V were DUE. Journals were DUE. Students took the test over Acts III, IV, and V today. After the test, we had several Book Talks today.  Assignment: Review your notes and materials for the Final Exam. Use the Review Sheet as a study guide.  All grades are current in this class as of 1:00pm 12/19.

B3/B4 - Students took the Binder Quiz in class today. After they finished the Binder Quiz, they were expected to review their notes and look over the skills listed on the Final Exam Review Sheet.  Assignment: Study for the final exam.  PARENTS: Grades are current in both of these classes with the only exception being the Binder Quiz I gave students today.  Everything else has been graded and accounted for.

December 16, 2016 (Gold)

G1 - We had several Book Talks today. Test Review Sheets for Acts III-V were DUE. Journals were DUE. Students took the test over Acts III, IV, and V today. After the test, students picked up a Final Exam review sheet (list of skills to review, not questions), then they finished their Character Posters. Assignment: Review your notes and materials for the Final Exam. Use the Review Sheet as a study guide.

G2 - I collected borrowed textbooks and distributed some materials for binders. Today was a work day for revisions to final papers and binder collation. Assignments: Final Exam next time. Final Drafts of the Research-Based Analysis are due on Tuesday as well. Please bring your borrowed textbooks if you did not already turn them in.  Be sure to bring your binders and other textbook for the final exam.

G3 - Students took the Binder Quiz in class today. After they finished the Binder Quiz, they were expected to review their notes and look over the skills listed on the Final Exam Review Sheet.  Assignment: Study for the final exam.  PARENTS: Grades are current in this class with only two exceptions: The Ted Talk Analysis Assignment (which was due last time) and the Binder Quiz I gave students today.  Everything else has been graded and accounted for.

 

December 15, 2016 (Blue)

B1 - Today went very quickly. We had five Book Talks, then we went through the journals to compile a class list. There were four, so we added #5 today. Instead of an Argumentative Essay this semester, I asked students to write a half-page journal answering the following question: "Whose fault is it that Romeo and Juliet both died at the end of the play?" Journal prompts for this class are posted on Moodle if you need them. After sharing some journals, we focused the remainder of the block on the Test Review Sheets and the Translation Exercises. Students shared their answers for both worksheets as a review for the test.  I passed back graded work and a copy of the Final Exam Review Sheet before the end of the block.  Assignments: I will collect the test review sheets and journals at the beginning of the block on Monday. Book Talk #3 is due on Monday, and we have several speakers to get through before the test over Acts III, IV, and V. Study your review sheet for the test. 

B3/B4 - Journals DUE. Ted Talk Analysis Assignment DUE (on Google Classroom). I distributed a Final Exam Review Sheet (list of skills which will be tested, not questions). For the rest of the block, students were asked to organize their binders and complete any late work they might still have from this quarter and turn it in by the end of the period. Assignment: You will have a Binder Quiz next time. Materials you might need are posted on Moodle. You will not be allowed to use your MacBooks on the Binder Quiz, so please come with everything prepared ahead of time. 

December 14, 2016 (Gold)

G1 - Act V: Scenes 1-3 Review Sheet DUE. We had several Book Talks today. I distributed test review sheets, and students presented the answers to 2 questions to the class to make the best use of our time. We made a class list of journal prompts from this quarter, and I posted the list on Moodle. Assignment: You will have a test over Acts III, IV, and V on Friday. Study the test review sheet we completed as a class. Those are due for minimal participation points on Friday. Journals are also due on Friday. The list of journal prompts and extra test review sheets are posted on Moodle, if you need them. For now, don't worry about the Translation Exercises. I may add something like this to the Final Exam.

G2 - Comparative Analysis Final Drafts DUE. I distributed a few handouts for your binders. The rest of the block was devoted to revisions on the final paper and working on putting binders together.  Assignment: Final Drafts of the Research-Based Analysis paper are due on Tuesday. Be sure to bring back your copies of Writing Analytically on Tuesday. You will need your Binder ready for assessment on Tuesday as well. There is no immediate assignment for Friday.

December 13, 2016 (Blue)

B1 - Act V: Scenes 1-3 Review Sheet DUE. We had four Book Talks today, then we finished watching the movie for Acts III, IV, and V. For the last 15 minutes, students worked on their Character Posters, and I passed back as much graded work as I could. Assignment: Work on the questions you were personally assigned to do for the two test review sheets. You will share your answers with the class on Thursday.

B3/B4 - In class today, we wrapped up political campaign projects (as needed) and compiled a list of journal prompts from this quarter. There were 7 journal prompts in Blue 3 and in Blue 4 for the second quarter. These lists are posted on Moodle if you need them. For the rest of the block, students worked on a Ted Talk Analysis assignment (on Google Classroom). Assignments: I will be collecting and grading your journals next time. In addition, please finish the Ted Talk Analysis assignment for Thursday.  

December 12, 2016 (Gold)

G1 - We had four Book Talks today, then we read and discussed almost all of Act V.  Assignment: Finish reading the last three pages of the play. Complete the review sheet for Act V. Materials are posted on Moodle.

G2 - I passed back almost all of the rough drafts of the Research-Based Analysis paper today. If you did not receive it today, it will be ready for you to pick up first thing tomorrow morning. Today was an in-class work day. Students were encouraged to work on their Final Drafts of the Comparative Analysis in class today.  Assignments: Final Drafts of the Comparative Analysis (Cinderella paper) are due on Wednesday. Be sure to bring back the comment slip and Number Codes Sheet, and print two copies of the paper for me, if you can, for some bonus points.  Final Drafts of the Research-Based Analysis are due on Tuesday of next week, Final Exam day. Please take the time you have between now and then to revise your paper carefully!

G3 - In class today, we compiled a list of journal prompts from this quarter. There were 6, and they are posted on Moodle if you need them. For the rest of the block, students worked on a Ted Talk Analysis assignment (on Google Classroom). Assignments: I will be collecting and grading your journals next time. In addition, please finish the Ted Talk Analysis assignment for Wednesday.  

December 9, 2016 (Blue)

B1 - We had four Book Talks today, then we read and discussed all of Act V. That took us the rest of the block, but we finished!  Assignment: Complete the review sheet for Act V. Materials are posted on Moodle if you need them.

B3/B4 - In class today, students wrapped up Political Campaign Project Google Slides Presentations and presented their Argumentative Statements to the class.  No Assignment!

December 8, 2016 (Gold)

G1 - Students wrapped up the second round of NWEA testing today with the Reading test. When everyone was finished, there was a little bit of time to work on Character Posters. We'll try to finish the play together on Monday. No Assignment!

G2 - Today was an in-class work day. Students worked on revisions to their Comparative Analysis papers. I do not have Rough Drafts of the final paper done yet, so all efforts were focused on Cinderella and on compiling materials to print for the Final Exam and Binder Assessment. Assignments: Final Drafts of the Comparative Analysis are due on Wednesday, December 14.  Work on getting files printed for your binders. For now, that is all you need to work on, unless you are behind on your final research paper.

G3 - Students wrapped up the second round of NWEA testing today with the Reading test. Assignment: None!

B1 - Students wrapped up the second round of NWEA testing today with the Reading test. We'll try to finish the play together on Friday. No Assignment!

B3/B4 - Students wrapped up the second round of NWEA testing today with the Reading test. Assignment: If you have not finished and submitted your Argumentative Statement on Google Classroom, please do so for Friday. We will be spending the block reading and discussing them as a class.
