December 17, 2018 (Gold)

G1/G4 - Ted Talk Analysis DUE on Google Classroom. Pleasure Reading and Book Talks. One student presented his Political Campaign Project. The rest of the block was given to students to work on any and all late work. ALL Late Work was due by the end of the block today.  Assignment: None! We will review for the Final Exam on Wednesday.

G2 - Journals DUE. Pleasure Reading and Book Talks. For the rest of the block, we watched the rest of Romeo and Juliet. Assignment: Test Review Sheet for Acts III, IV, and V. You will have the test over this part of the play on Wednesday.

December 12, 2018 (Blue)

B1 - After Pleasure Reading and Book Talks, Argumentative Statements were DUE today. Students presented their statements in class. No Assignment!

B2/B3 - Students were asked to have a full rough draft ready today for peer-editing. We spent three rounds of 15 minutes on peer-editing. Students had the rest of the block to work on their papers prior to submitting them to me for my official comments. Assignment: None!

December 11, 2018 (Gold)

G1/G4 - After Pleasure Reading and Book Talks, Argumentative Statements were DUE today. Students presented their statements in class. No Assignment!

G2 - After Pleasure Reading and three Book Talks, we picked up the play where we left off last time. We read almost all of Act V today. We will finish the play in class next time. No Assignment!

December 10, 2018 (Blue)

B1 - After Pleasure Reading, we had some Book Talks and some make-up Project Presentations. For the rest of the block, students were given instructions and materials (on Google Classroom) for writing the Argumentative Statement portion of the political ad campaign project. This writing assignment is individualized, and it will be the last part of the project grade. Assignment: Argumentative Statements are due on Wednesday.

B2/B3 - Comparative Analysis Final Drafts DUE. Research-Based Analysis Rough Drafts DUE for peer-editing. We spent some focused time working on the rough drafts in groups with peer-editing, etc. At the end of the block, I started sharing a former paper to encourage students to do their best on the final paper. Assignment: Research-Based Analysis papers will be due for peer-editing again on Wednesday, then they are due to me at the end of the block for my comments/feedback.

December 7, 2018 (Gold)

G1 - We had several people out today for illness. After Pleasure Reading, we had one Book Talk. For the rest of the block, students were given instructions and materials (on Google Classroom) for writing the Argumentative Statement portion of the political ad campaign project. This writing assignment is individualized, and it will be the last part of the project grade. Assignment: Argumentative Statements are due on Tuesday.

G2 - After Pleasure Reading and Book Talks, we continued with Romeo and Juliet. We started on Act IV today. No Assignment!

G4 - After Pleasure Reading, we had one Book Talk. December 6, 2018 (Blue)

B1 - In class today, students were given some time for Pleasure Reading and Book Talks. For the rest of the block, students presented their Political Ad Campaign projects. No Assignment!

B2/B3 - I passed back and returned Writing Plans today. Students were asked to submit two typed pages for the Research-Based Analysis. I spot-checked those and returned them for peer-editing. Students were given the rest of the block to work on their papers. Assignments: Final Drafts of the Comparative Analysis are due on Monday (print two copies and bring back the comments sheet). In addition, a full rough draft of the Research-Based Analysis is due for peer-editing on Monday. BUCKLE DOWN! 

December 5, 2018 (Gold)

G1/G4 - In class today, students were given some time for Pleasure Reading and Book Talks. For the rest of the block, students presented their Political Ad Campaign projects. No Assignment!

G2 - After Pleasure Reading and Book Talks, students were asked to write a half-page journal about their Dream Honeymoons. For the rest of the block, we wrapped up Act III and began reading Act IV together. No Assignment!

December 4, 2018 (Blue)

We had a shortened schedule today for testing.

B1 - Political Ad Campaign Projects and Extra Credit DUE. In class today, we had one Book Talk, then students began delivering their presentations for the campaign project. We will wrap up presentations in class on Thursday. I will also discuss the Argumentative Statements at that time. Assignment: No Additional Assignment at this time.

B2/B3 - Writing Plans were DUE today. I collected those and returned the Comparative Analysis Rough Drafts (digital copies with paper comments). We discussed the major issues with those papers, and students were given the rest of the block to work on their papers in class. Assignments: For the Research-Based Analysis, please prepare at least two full, typed pages for Thursday. The Final Drafts of the Comparative Analysis paper are due on Monday. Please be sure to print two copies of that paper and bring back the comment sheet you were given in class today.

December 3, 2018 (Gold)

G2 - In class today, small groups wrapped up their STEAL Chart and Character Posters for Romeo and Juliet. Groups presented their posters to the class for a small participation grade. For the rest of the block, we began reading Act III: Scenes 4-5. We will finish Scene 5 in class on Thursday. No Assignment!
