May 28, 2019 (Blue) Final Exams: B2, B3, B4

B1 - Students had some time to review prior to taking the test over The Odyssey today. That was all we had time for. When students finished the test, I handed them a copy of the rubric for the Gallery Walk for Thursday. Assignment: Prepare your Gallery Walk exhibit and presentation for Thursday.

B2 - Students had some time to study/review prior to taking the Final Exam. Aside from those who were absent today, grades are current and final for this block. 

B4 - Research-Based Analysis Final Drafts were DUE.  I returned Comparative Analysis papers today. For the rest of the block, students worked on Course Surveys for IU and reorganized their binders. Final Drafts will be returned to students by the end of the week or in their graduation packets. Grades are required to be final by Friday.

May 24, 2019 (Gold)

G2/G3/G4 - Students had some time to review prior to taking the test over Antigone today. Test Review Sheets were DUE.  Assignment: Review for the Final Exam for Wednesday. The review sheet is posted on Google Classroom.

May 23, 2019 (Blue)

B1 - Multi-genre Research Projects were returned today. Students had a little bit of time prior to taking Vocabulary Test #2. Gallery Walks were also discussed in class today. For almost the entire block today, we read the rest of The Odyssey. Assignment: The test over The Odyssey is Tuesday. Gallery Walks will be counted as your final exam grade. Those are due on Thursday.

B2 - Final Exam submissions were DUE. Students had some time to review prior to taking the test over Greek List #12 today. Assignment: Study for the Final Exam.

B4 - In class today, students were given time to work on their Final Research-Based Analysis papers. Assignment: Final Drafts are due on Tuesday.

May 22, 2019 (Gold)

G2/G3/G4 - Tragic Hero Worksheets DUE. In class today, we went through and discussed the Themes and Literary Terms Review Sheet. For the remainder of the block, students had time to work on the Test Review Sheet for the Antigone test.  Assignment: Test Review Sheets will be collected for participation. The Test over Antigone is Friday. Please take time to complete the review sheet and study that material prior to the test. 

May 21, 2019 (Blue)

B1 - Multi-genre Research Projects DUE! In class today, I gave students a journal prompt about the weird quirks they had as children. A few students shared their responses, then we read "The Cattle of the Sun God" and "Father and Son." Students completed the reading guide as we read together. Assignment: Study for the Vocabulary Test over List #2 for next time.

B2 - We wrapped up presentations for Greek List #12. Students were asked to contribute two roots and two vocabulary words to study for the Final Exam list. Assignment: Study for the test over Greek List #12 for next time.

B4 - I returned Research-Based Analysis Rough Drafts in class today. Students had the entire block to work on their revisions and ask questions or conference with me about their papers. The Final Draft Due Date has been postponed until Tuesday in order to give students a full week for revision. Assignment: Final Drafts are due on Tuesday at the beginning of the block. Please bring back the Rough Draft comment sheet and print two copies of your final paper. 

May 20, 2019 (Gold)

G2/G3/G4 - I returned essay tests and research paper rubrics in class today. We discussed those for awhile, then students worked with partners on some test review activities, including a Tragic Hero Chart, which will be collected for a grade. The remainder of the block was filled with additional review materials to help students prepare for the test over Antigone for Friday. Assignment: Please be sure to turn in the Tragic Hero worksheet for a grade. Start studying and preparing for the test for Friday.

May 17, 2019 (Blue)

B1 - Final Drafts of the Research Papers were DUE today. Students then had time for Free Write Friday in their journals. We then read "Sirens; Scylla and Charybdis." Students completed reading guides as they read along. For the rest of the block, we talked about the expectations for the Multi-Genre Research Projects which are due on Tuesday. MGPs are due on Tuesday!

B2 - Due to the number of seniors out for the brunch today, we postponed today's work until Tuesday. We began discussion of the Final Exam. Assignment: Please enter two roots and two vocabulary words for the Final Exam review list.

B4 - No Class. Seniors attended the brunch this morning and had the rest of the day off.

May 16, 2019 (Gold)

G2/G3/G4 - We started with some time for pleasure reading. From there, I asked students to write a half-page journal response about choosing between family or the loves of their lives (related to the play we are reading in class). After sharing a few responses, we finished reading Antigone in class today. Assignment: None! I have been grading research papers and will have all of the papers done prior to class on Monday.

May 15, 2019 (Blue)

B1 - Students were given time to review prior to taking the Vocabulary Test over Odyssey List #1. After the vocabulary test, we spent some time discussing/working on the Research Paper. All rough drafts have been graded and returned to the students with digital comments in the margins. Final Drafts are due on Friday. Students continually asked questions, and I helped as much as I could to steer them into the right direction. From there, we went over Odyssey Vocabulary List #2. For the rest of the block, students had a choice to read more of the story, write a journal entry, or work on their papers. They opted to work on their papers some more, and that's what we did. Assignment: Final Drafts of the Research Paper are due on Friday at the beginning of the block on Google Classroom. We will discuss MGPs more on Friday. Let's get this research paper behind us first.

B2 - Presentations and Review Materials for Greek List #12 were due. In class today, we started going through the presentations for Greek List #12. We were able to get through half of them today and will finish presentations on Friday. Assignment: No additional assignment at this time.

B4 - Researched-Based Analysis Rough Drafts were due by the end of the block today. Students had the entire block to work/edit/ask questions. Assignment: NONE! Enjoy your Senior Brunch on Friday. Be looking for me to return your rough drafts with digital comments soon. When you see it returned to you, you can pick up your paper copy of my summative comments at any time.

May 14, 2019 (Gold)

G2/G3/G4 - In class today, students were asked to write a half-page journal about "Loyalties." We discussed the concept of loyalty to one's family or friends, etc. After sharing a few responses, we then read several parts of Antigone together: Scene 1, Ode 1, Scene 2, Ode 2, Scene 3, and Ode 3. If you were absent today, the full text is available on Moodle. Please be sure to read the parts we read and discussed together. Assignment: None!
