B2 - In class today, we briefly read/discussed an article about movie plagiarism before starting to watch The Blind Side. I gave students a Cast List and Works Cited page for this unit. We watched as much of the film as we could today. We will have to finish it on Monday. Assignment: Review the articles and your movie notes. Try to come up with an interesting focus for this paper.
B3 - After Pleasure Reading, we went over the notes on Argumentation and Persuasion. From there, we read and discussed some sample Op Eds and talked about the structure, voice, arguments, support, etc. We then discussed the prompt and rubric for the Op Ed assignment and brainstormed over 20 different topics for the paper on the chalkboard. Assignment: On E-Learning Day, write your Rough Draft of the Op Ed. Details are posted on Google Classroom. We will peer-edit those in class on Monday.
B4 - After ten minutes of review time for the Quiz, Review Sheets were DUE. Students took the quiz over Act I: Scene 1, background notes, and the Prologue. As students finished the quiz, they were given some time for Pleasure Reading. From there, we went into Article of the Week #7: "Locker Room Talk." Students were given about 10-12 minutes in class to work on reading, annotating, and responding to this article. The other time will be added to the E-Learning Assignments on Thursday. Next, we went over "More Elizabethan Words to Know." On the back of that sheet is a Translation Exercise which should be completed for E-Learning Day. Students grabbed their Journals for E-Learning Day. For the rest of the block, we read and discussed Act I: Scenes 3, 4, and part of 5. Assignments: All E-Learning Day assignments will be posted on Google Classroom with materials posted on Moodle. I will post those for you Thursday morning.
